Pair of Dark Green Anduze Garden Planters with Medallions in Terra Cotta
pf-1649
This pair of French garden pots originates from Provence, France. The French planters are hand thrown in terracotta and finished with a hand painted green enamel. The set of two citrus planters are traditionally decorated with medaillons. The drainage hole is provided. The size and finish may vary as they are handmade in French terra cotta clay. These planters are not frost proof.
The iconic Anduze urn traces its origins to the early 17th century, during the reign of King Henry IV. Inspired by the classical elegance of the Medici urn from Florence, a French potter in the town of Anduze blended Italian Renaissance design with Provençal craftsmanship, creating the first hand-thrown terracotta urn in Southern France. Over time, the Anduze pot became a hallmark of French garden style, admired for its graceful silhouette, durability, and decorative charm.
