18th Century Clock by Jean-Baptiste-André Furet

A late 18th Century, Louis XVI Pendulum Parisian clock in good condition. Designed and produced by Jean Baptiste Andre Furet. Ormolu-mounted white marble mantle clock and marble base with gilded bronze decoration. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1780 France.

Jean-Baptiste-Andre Furet was a French watchmaker born circa in 1920 Paris, France and passed away circa 1807. In 1746, Furet received his master as a watchmaker and by the following year he worked with his father and whose business he continued. Later on Furet got into financial difficulties and went bankrupt in 1786. His exceptional inventory contained 98 pendulum clocks and 154 other clocks. Among his collection was the famous Pendule Negresse, a gift from Marie-Antoniette to her son, the future King of France Louis XVII. Today Furet's work can be seen in important museums in Paris or in London.
