A 19th Century demi-lune Italian Neo-Classical commode hand painted in the Arte Povera technique, made of hand crafted Pinewood in good condition. This beautifully decorated wall console has an overhanging skirt downwards. It has a Florentine geometrical pattern in light and dark anthracite grey. Top and tapered legs are patinated in dark grey. The antique cabinet has two doors and three interior drawers, consisting its original metal hardware. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1810, Italy.

This type of furniture “Arte Povera“ was handmade by cabinet makers starting in the 1500's through the 1700's. The furniture was in fashion but was fairly expensive, due to the choice of wood (walnut or cherry wood). Therefore, the artisans were asked to fabricate the furniture in a less expensive way using wood types such as Pioppo or Fir.
