A light-brown, vintage Mid-Century modern American cocktail coffee table made of hand carved Walnut, designed by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings and produced by Widdicomb Furniture Company, in good condition. The round table top of the three-leg Klismos style sofa, side table is composed with a shelf, enhanced by detailed wood grains. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1950, United States.

Terence Harry Robsjohn-Gibbings was a British designer and architect born circa in 1903, in Widnes, Great Britain and passed in 1976, in Athens, Greece. In 1928, Robsjohn-Gibbings sailed to the New York and later became an American citizen. In the late 1930's, he was one of the most important, well-known designers in America. He opened his own shop on New York's Madison Avenue in 1936. Robsjohn-Gibbings worked as a designer from 1943 to 1956 for the Widdicomb Furniture Company.

Widdicomb Furniture Company was an American furniture manufacturer founded in 1858 by George Widdicomb. The company originally started as a cabinet shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They were known for their spindle bed frames. Later on, in 1915, it was sold to Joseph Griswold, Sr. and Godfrey von Platen and merged with Mueller Furniture Corporation. In 1970, they split again, and the company name was changed to John Widdicomb Company. Many well-known designers and architects have worked and designed for them, such as British designer T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings and the American designer George Nakashima, etc.
