20th Century Gold Swedish Svenskt Tenn Vintage Brass Floor Lamp by Josef Frank

A gold-black, vintage Mid-Century modern Swedish floor lamp made of hand crafted iron and polished brass, designed by Josef Frank and produced by Svenskt Tenn in good condition. The Scandinavian light is composed with three new white conical shades, each of them is halted by a flexible, adjustable arm, featuring a single light socket. The reading lamp is standing, resting on a round base. Manufacturer label at the bottom. Model Nr. 2431. The wires have been renewed. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1960, Sweden, Scandinavia.

Josef Frank was born in 1885 in Baden, Austria and passed away in 1967 Stockholm, Sweden. He was an architect, artist, and designer. Frank studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology and was a founding member of the Vienna Werkbund. Frank was considered one of the most prestigious designers in the Stockholm design company Svenskt Tenn.
Svenskt Tenn is a Swedish interior design store founded in 1924 in Stockholm, Sweden by a Swedish teacher and pewter artist Estrid Ericson. In the early time, Svenskt Tenn was appointed as a royal warrant. Later on, Ericson and the pewter artist Nils Fougstedt, she produced modern pewter objects. In 1925 the Svenskt Tenn won a Gold Medal at the 1925 Exposition des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels in Paris, France. Further on, in 1932, Ericson hired the well known Austrian architect and designer Josef Frank. Today the Svenskt Tenn is owned by the Kjell and Maerta Beijer Foundation.
