20th Century Italian Ashwood Dining Room Table by Pier Luigi Colli
A vintage Mid-Century modern Italian dining room table made of hand crafted Ashwood with a rich warm patina, designed by Pier Luigi Colli, in good condition. The conference table is composed with two drawers, standing on four legs which are tapered, hand turned and delicately hand sculpted with intricate bird designs. This piece furniture has a meticulous detailing, which is typical of the excellent work and design of this prolific Italian furniture maker. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940, Italy.

Pier Luigi Colli was an Italian artist and designer, born in 1895, in Turin and passed away in 1968, Italy. Colli studied at the French university, The École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. After his studies, he returned to Italy, where he stared working in the family furniture business. Most of his pieces are representing the Parisian, Art Deco period, style. Colli often used very combined materials such as iron, brass, glass and wood. The company worked together with well known architects and designers, such as Gio Ponti, Giovanni Gariboldi, Carlo Mollino, etc. In 1980, the company was closed, making the furniture highly sought after.
