20th Century Italian Black Double-Arm Wall Appliqué in the Style of Stilnovo
A vintage Mid-Century modern Italian double-arm wall appliqué made of hand crafted metal and brass, in the style of Stilnovo, in good condition. The two conical mount, perforated black lacquered metal shades are supported by slightly curved brass arms, each is featuring a one light socket. The wires have been renewed. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Milan, Italy.
Stilnovo was an Italian lighting and design company founded in 1946 in Milan by the well-known Italian designer Bruno Gatta. During the Mid-Century Modern era the Stilnovo brand was one of the most pioneered lighting design companies in Italy, also known as the Stilnovo Period. Well-known artists have worked and designed for Stilnovo, such as the Italian architect and designer Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Joe Cesare Colombo, etc. To this day, the Stilnovo brand is still a benchmark in the Italian lighting history.
