20th Century Italian Pair of Cabinet Writing Tables, Desks by Silvio Cavatorta

A dark-brown, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian pair of cabinet writing desks (his and hers) with a two door bases and shelving tops, designed by Silvio Cavatorta. The front writing surfaces shows the beautiful inlays of typical classic motifs in Rosewood and Cuban Mahogany, in good condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950, Italy.
The family company Cavatorta was established in 1869, in Rome, Italy by Eugenio Cavatorta. The company was specialized in producing only small and exclusive series. The furniture was designed for each specific commission. In 1930, Eugenio Cavatorta son, Silvio Cavatorta took the company over and later on transferred it to Franco Cavatorta. Today, Cavatorta’s furniture remains highly sought after.
