20th Century Italian Rosewood, Mahogany Writing Table by Gio Ponti & Ico Parisi
A dark-brown, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian writing table with a large slightly arched table top made of hand carved polished Rosewood and Mahogany, designed by Gio Ponti and Ico Parisi in good condition. The freestanding desk is composed with two grooved drawers and a long shelf, storage space. The table is standing on four sculptural wooden legs. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1960, Milan, Italy.

Giovanni "Gio" Ponti was an Italian architect, industrial designer, furniture designer, artist, teacher, writer and a publisher born in 1891 Milan, Italy and passed away in 1979 Milan. In 1921, Ponti graduated with a degree in architecture at the Polytechnic Institute in Milan. Over the years, Ponti has built more than a hundred buildings in Italy and around the world. He was a major player in the renewal of Italian design after WW2.
Ico Parisi was an Italian architect and designer born in 1916 Palermo, Italy and passed away in 1996. Parisi studied first construction and graduated in 1934, later he studied architecture between 1949 – 1952 at the Institute of Atheneum in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 1948, Parisi and his wife Luisa Aiani founded the design studio La Ruota. Parisi defined himself as a renaissance artist.
