20th Century Italian Walnut Writing Table, Desk Set with a Chair by Gio Ponti
A light-brown, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian freestanding writing table, desk set with two drawers and a stripped chair made of hand crafted Walnut, in good condition. The large table is composed with a clear linoleum-laminated top, enhanced by detailed brass hardware, designed by Gio Ponti for the Banca Nationale Del Lavoro in Milan. The rectangular table is supported by a wooden frame, standing on four legs which are inserted in metal caps. Manufacturer label B.N.L. at the base. Model Nr. 3802. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950, Milan, Italy.

Giovanni "Gio" Ponti was an Italian architect, industrial designer, furniture designer, artist, teacher, writer and a publisher born in 1891 Milan, Italy and passed away in 1979 Milan. In 1921, Ponti graduated with a degree in architecture at the Polytechnic Institute in Milan. Over the years, Ponti has built more than a hundred buildings in Italy and around the world. He was a major player in the renewal of Italian design after WW2.
