20th Century Light-Brown Italian Pair of Tall Walnut Nightstands by Tomaso Buzzi
A light-brown, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian pair of tall nightstands, bedside tables made of hand carved polished Walnut, each of them is composed with four drawers and metal handles, pulls. Designed by Tomaso Buzzi in good condition. The side, end tables are supported by four straight, round wooden feet, enhanced by detailed metal décor. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940, Italy.
Tomaso Buzzi was an Italian designer, architect and interior, decorator born in 1900, in Sondrio, Italy and passed away in 1981. In 1923, Buzzi graduated at The Polytechnic University of Milan. After his studies, he stayed working at, with the Studio di Sant'Orsola group, where he was a parter, which included Gio Ponti, Michele Marelli and Emilio Lancia. In 1927, he founded with Paolo Venini, Gio Ponti, Emilio Lancia and Pietro Chiesa IL Labirinto, a design house devoted to promote modern decorative arts with interior design. Later on, Buzzi worked together with the glass manufacture Fontana Arte and Venini & Company.
