20th Century Modern Metal Table Lamp by Hivo Van Teal
A tall vintage Mid-Century modern American table lamp or desk lamp made of lucite and metal, designed by Hivo Van Teal and produced by Karl Springer, in good condition. The wires have been renewed. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960, United States.

Hivo G. Van Teal was a Cuban architect born in Havana, Cuba and passed away in the United States. As a young man, Teal migrated from Cuba to start a new life in the Miami. He started working in Coral Gables, Florida, as a taxi driver and later on, as a house painter. Soon later, Teal developed a passion in creating, designing sculptures shaped of acrylic. In 1974, he opened his first showroom in Miami Beach, two years after, Teal opened a second store in High Point Market, North Carolina. Until now, the Van Teal Lighting company is family owned.
Karl Springer was a German designer and producer born in 1931 Berlin, Germany and passed away in 1991. Karl lived most of his life in New York City. He worked for Lord & Taylor where he developed his own method covering items with leather. His popularity gave him the ability to sell to well-known individuals.
