20th Century Italian Green Hanging Lantern - Small Ceiling Light by Stilnovo
A small green, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian hanging lantern, ceiling light made of hand crafted brass and metal with a half frosted opaline glass shade, featuring a one light socket, produced by Stilnovo, in good condition. The wires have been renewed. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960, Milan, Italy.
Stilnovo was an Italian lighting and design company founded in 1946 in Milan by the well-known Italian designer Bruno Gatta. During the Mid-Century Modern era the Stilnovo brand was one of the most pioneered lighting design companies in Italy, also known as the Stilnovo Period. Well-known artists have worked and designed for Stilnovo, such as the Italian architect and designer Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Joe Cesare Colombo, etc. To this day, the Stilnovo brand is still a benchmark in the Italian lighting history.
