20th Century Swedish Mahogany Nightstands - Bedside Tables by Carl-Axel Acking
A light-brown, vintage Mid-Century modern Swedish pair of bedside tables made of hand carved Mahogany, each of them is composed with one drawer, shelf and a brass handle, consisting its original brass hardware and key, standing on four straight wooden legs. The Scandinavian nightstands were designed by Carl-Axel Acking and produced by C. A. Acking, in good condition. Manufacturer label at the bottom. Wear consistent with age and use. 1969, Sweden, Scandinavia.
Carl-Axel Acking was a Swedish architect, author and furniture designer, born in 1910, in Helsingborg, Sweden and passed away in 2001. In 1931, Acking started studding at the National College of Art in Stockholm, then at the Art School and the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where he graduated in 1939. He is primarily known for his furniture designs, seating and storage pieces, on of his most well-known design is the Anette dressing table ( 1943 ) for Nordiska Kompaniet. In 1952, he won the Lunning Prize.
