20th Century White-Grey Danish Gustavian Grandfather Clock by Urban Jørgensen
A white-grey, vintage Danish Gustavian grandfather clock made of hand carved Pinewood, the movement was designed and produced by Urban Jørgensen. The clock bell was produced by the German company Junghans, the clock face is decorated with Roman numerals on a silver background, standing on a rectangular wooden base, detailed in the Neoclassical Greek style with the original brass hardware and key, in good condition. Fully working. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1910 - 1920, Denmark, Scandinavia.
Urban Bruun Jørgensen was a Danish watchmaker, born in 1776, in Copenhagen, Denmark and passed away in 1830. He was the son of the royal watchmaker Jørgensen and Anne Leth Bruun. Jørgensen studied under the two legendary watchmakers, Abraham-Louis Breguet and Ferdinand Berthoud, where he learned for several years the art of watchmaking. During his apprenticeship, he often traveled to German-speaking countries, to acquire professional experience and training. After his father's death, in 1811, he decided to start his own company, Jules Jürgensen.
