20th Century Italian Walnut Writing Desk, Table and Desk Chair by Gio Ponti
A vintage Mid-Century modern Italian writing desk or writing table with two drawers and a stripped chair made of hand carved Walnut and brass, in good condition. The legs of the desk are inserted in metal caps. Designed by Gio Ponti for the Banca Nationale Del Lavoro in Milan, Italy. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950, Milan, Italy.

Giovanni “ Gio “ Ponti was an Italian architect, industrial designer, furniture designer, artist, teacher, writer and a publisher born in 1891 Milan, Italy and passed away in 1979 Milan. In 1921, Ponti graduated with a degree in architecture at the Polytechnic Institute in Milan. Over the years, Ponti has built more than a hundred buildings in Italy and in the rest of the world, also being a major player on the renewal of Italian design after WW2.
