A humorous bust of a goat balancing a stack of books and elaborately adorned with glasses, hat, jacket, shirt and tied foulard depicted as an anthropomorphic animal character. Hand made in white bisque unglazed terra cotta clay, Northern France.
This fashion began in the 1930’s when examples of anthropomorphism included the attribution of human traits to animals, especially domesticated pets such as dogs and cats.
