20th Century Danish Beechwood Writing Table, Desk by Bjarne & Gunni Omann
A vintage Mid-Century modern Danish writing table designed by Bjarne & Gunni Omann, in good condition. The Scandinavian desk is made of hand carved Cherry and Beechwood, composed with six drawers, standing on four slightly curved wooden legs. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Denmark, Scandinavia.
Bjarne Omann was a Danish designer born and passed away in Denmark. Omann’s personal life and professional training remain lost in history.
Gunni Omann was a Danish designer born in 1930 in Denmark and passed away in 2009. In 1951, Omann finished his apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker. In 1954, Omann graduated from the Technical College in Aarhus, Denmark as a furniture designer and started working for Omann Jun`s Moebelfabrik A/S. Later on, he and his younger brother Bjarne Omann took the company over and saw the need for office furniture and so on they targeted the professional office segment. Gunni Omann is often mentioned as a designer, however he never designed furniture for the company, he only was involved in sales.
