A garden antique featuring " The Head of Silenus ". This Italian marble stone head is adorned with carved laurel wreaths and positioned on a marble pedestal. Hand carved in white Thassos Marble. Silenus was a companion and tutor to the wine god of Dionysus. He is a rustic god of the dance and wine-press. Weathered patina, wear consistent with age and use. Circa 19th/20th century, Prov. from an estate near Rome, Italy
