A vintage Art Deco Austrian pair of bar console tables made of hand crafted black lacquered Plywood and chrome steel. Designed Marcel Breuer, in good condition. The end tables are representing the Bauhaus period. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1930, Austria.
Marcel Breuer was born in 1902 in Pécs, Austria-Hungary and passed away in 1981 New York City. He was a modernist, architect, and furniture designer. He moved to Germany in 1921 to enroll at Bauhaus, a new school with the mission to combine principles of fine art and functional design. In 1937, he joined the faculty of Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. He helped design many buildings including the UNESCO Headquarters in France, and US Department of Housing and Urban Development headquarters.
