This pair of Renaissance style griffins are hand crafted in Tuscan terra cotta clay from Impruneta, Italy. Finely and detailed workmanship feature the sitting griffin garden statue holding a sphere under its’ paw. The legendary hybrid creature has a lion’s body with open spread wings and an eagles head. The mythological griffin was an often used motif in the ancient Middle Eastern and Mediterranean. Known to be protectors from evil and guardians and often depicted in heraldry characterizing strength, courage and leadership.
