Pair of Louis XIV Cabinets Arte Povera
A pair of Louis XIV small commodes in legno laccato painted light grey with a brown ornamental pattern and a door. Original hardware and key is provided. The top of the cabinet is painted in a wooden color. Wear consistent with age and use.
This type of furniture was handmade by cabinet makers starting in the 1500's through the 1700's. The furniture was in fashion but was fairly expensive, due to the choice of wood (walnut or cherry wood). Therefore, the artisans were asked to fabricate the furniture in a less expensive way using wood types such as Pioppo or Fir.
