Pair of 31” Garden Planters by Willy Guhl, 1960s Switzerland

A Mid-Century modern unusual pair of garden bowls by Willy Guhl. These vintage planters are made of a light weight cement and have been fiber - reinforced. Bottom is stamped Grandon Fres Made in France V-110 brevete. Each planter has an individual patina with plant residue. Drainage hole is provided, wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960 Switzerland.
Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher and a product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland and passed away in 2004. Mr. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Mr. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant cement designs.
