Provence Garden Urn in Terra Cotta with Celadon Patina
pf-1576
This glazed celadon garden pot originates from the south of France. The garden planter is traditionally decorated with swags and a crest. The beautifully hand painted Celadon color lets the clay color break through. Therefore is has an antiqued patina. As these planters are handcrafted, slight variations in size may occur. They include drainage holes, and we recommend using liners or landscaping cloth prior to planting. Please note these planters are not frostproof. Wear consistent with age and use.
The iconic Anduze urn traces its origins to the early 17th century, during the reign of King Henry IV. Inspired by the classical elegance of the Medici urn from Florence, a French potter in the town of Anduze blended Italian Renaissance design with Provençal craftsmanship, creating the first hand-thrown terracotta urn in Southern France. Over time, the Anduze pot became a hallmark of French garden style, admired for its graceful silhouette, durability, and decorative charm.
