An antique pair of 19th Century Vases de Demoiselle with lids. The Demoiselle or Male Kanakkale is handmade in terracotta with a stunning green glaze. These anthropomorphic pitchers originated in Turkey and were filled with the essence of roses. Decorated with rosettes, flowers and decorations. Normally found in brown or white glazes, the exported vases to Provence were colored in yellow, green or purple.

Twisted handles. Wear consistent with age and use.
