Large 19th Century Greek Amphora Greek with Worn Patina in Terracotta
SU-1572
A large antique olive jar handcrafted in terracotta, originating from Greece. This Jar is distinguished by its beautifully ribbed surface, with finely worked horizontal bands encircling the body, creating texture and depth across the form. The sculptural silhouette is enhanced by two small loop handles at the shoulder and a slightly tapered base.
Over time, the jar has developed a remarkable natural patina, with areas of soft grey weathering and mineral deposits that contrast elegantly with the warm terracotta tones. These aged surfaces highlight the jar’s history and add to its authentic Mediterranean character.
Wear consistent with age and use. Circa late 19th century, Greece.
