19th Century Italian Marble Boca Di Grondaia

An antique hand carved wall relief or mask in marble of a grotesque gargoyle with a spout designed to convey water from a root, in good condition. A very interesting architectural element used in the Gothic period. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1850, Italy.
