20th Century Swiss Pair of Tall Conical Shaped Planters by Willy Guhl & Eternit

A pair of vintage late Mid-Century modern Swiss garden planters designed by Willy Guhl for Eternit, in good condition. The tall conical shaped garden ornaments are made of light weight cement, reinforced by fiber. The spiral design adds to the sculptural design. Original natural aged patina. Drainage is provided. For out-door, undercover use. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1970 - 1980, Switzerland.

Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher and a product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant planters design made in lightweight cement.
