16th Century Italian Renaissance Limewood Wall Mirror - Antique Surround

A late 16th Century, Italian wall mirror made of hand carved Limewood from an antique villa near Verona, in good condition. The flanking superbly carved wooden Ionic columns have been finished with a Venetian marble paint. The entire interior gilded dentil frame is set onto a double frame. This was faux finished in a green Venetian marble patina. The front of the surround has finely carved scrolling leaves on a green background. A light wood which was used during the Renaissance period for fine carving, original condition. The antique finish mirrored glass is not original. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1580, Italy.
