A charming 18th Century Tuscan bench hand painted in the Arte Povera technique, made of hand crafted Pinewood in good condition. This antique Italian seating furniture has a straight white framed back rest with a decorative panel and a Florentine geometrical pattern in various earthy tones, light, dark anthracite grey. The white patinated seat panel lifts up for additional storage, consisting its original metal hardware, standing on four short and tapered legs. This Italian bench will bring a graceful presence to any interior of the home. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1730, Tuscany, Italy.

This type of furniture “Arte Povera“ was handmade by cabinet makers starting in the 1500's through the 1700's. The furniture was in fashion but was fairly expensive, due to the choice of wood (walnut or cherry wood). Therefore, the artisans were asked to fabricate the furniture in a less expensive way using wood types such as Pioppo or Fir.
