Circa 18th Century, a pair of large antique garden statues hand carved in natural stone named Biancone d’Istria Marble. These antique natural stone statues or garden ornaments were part of a classical very large Italian garden fountain representing Triton, god of the sea. In Greek or Roman era Triton was usually represented as merman, the Triton has the upper body of a human and a tail of a fish. One of the garden statues is blowing a conch which he blew to raise or calm calm the waves. The 20th Century Rosso Verona bases are included. Weathered antique patina. Minor fading due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Prov. private collection Bologna, Italy.
