19th Century Austrian Biedermeier Octagonal Ashwood Occasional Table

pe-1385

This octagonal Austrian Biedermeier occasional side table dates to circa 1820–1830 and exemplifies the period’s refined proportions and understated elegance. Handcrafted in Austria, the table is made of shellac-polished, partly veneered ashwood.

The petite top is fitted with a Botticino marble surface, secured and accented by decorative brass nailheads. Four turned round legs support a quatrefoil base centered with a carved star-shaped inlay, while subtle black ebonized detailing and gold-patinated lion feet lend a classical finish.

Minor fading and surface wear consistent with age and use.
