19th Century Black-White Italian Painted Pine Cabinet - Antique Tuscan Cupboard

A black-white, grey antique Italian cabinet in the Arte Povera technique, made of hand crafted painted Pinewood, in good condition. The tall, rectangular Tuscan cupboard is composed with a single door, the inside consists three shelving detailed with its original metal hardware and key, standing on four short conical wooden feet. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1870 - 1890, Tuscany, Italy.

This type of furniture was handmade by cabinet makers starting in the 1500's through the 1700's. The furniture was in fashion but was fairly expensive, due to the choice of wood (Walnut or Cherrywood). Therefore, the artisans were asked to fabricate the furniture in a less expensive way using wood types such as Pioppo or Fir.
