1940s Mid-Century Sofa in the Biedermeier Style – Cherry & Burlwood
pe-1272
A refined early mid-century European sofa, crafted circa 1940, designed in the sophisticated Biedermeier Revival style. Executed in hand-polished Cherrywood with beautifully figured Burlwood accents, this sculptural settee reinterprets the graceful lines of early 19th-century Central European design with a modern sensibility.
The piece features a gently inclined backrest flanked by wide, sweeping armrests, resting on four elegantly arched, sabre-style legs - a nod to classical Biedermeier proportions. Newly upholstered in a graphic black-and-white patterned fabric, the sofa balances historic references with a crisp contemporary presence.
Professionally restored, refurbished, and hand-polished.
Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940, Central Europe.
