19th Century Italian Arte Povera Pine Credenza - Single Antique Tuscan Cupboard

An early 19th Century, single antique Italian credenza in the Arte Povera technique, made of hand crafted painted Pinewood, in good condition. The rectangular Tuscan cabinet, cupboard is composed with two detailed panel carved doors and two drawers, consisting its original metal hardware and keys. The inside is consisting one shelf, particularized by round door knobs. The sideboard is embellished by an ochre colored painted weathered surface and large painted diamond motif in black, lifted by a plinth wooden base. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1830 - 1840, Tuscany, Italy.

This type of furniture was handmade by cabinet makers starting in the 1500's through the 1700's. The furniture was in fashion but was fairly expensive, due to the choice of wood (Walnut or Cherrywood). Therefore, the artisans were asked to fabricate the furniture in a less expensive way using wood types such as Pioppo or Fir.
