19th Century Italian Pair of Antique Arte Povera Pine Chests - Tuscan Nightstands

A black-white, antique pair of Italian chests, commodes in the Arte Povera technique, made of hand crafted painted Pinewood in good condition. The Tuscan cabinets, cupboards are composed with a light-grey top and two drawers which is consisting its original metal hardware and key. The nightstands, bed side tables are particularized by stars, standing on four wooden legs. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1870 - 1890, Tuscany, Italy.
This type of furniture was handmade by cabinet makers starting in the 1500's through the 1700's. The furniture was in fashion but was fairly expensive, due to the choice of wood (Walnut or Cherrywood). Therefore, the artisans were asked to fabricate the furniture in a less expensive way using wood types such as Pioppo or Fir.
