A dark-green, vintage Mid-Century modern French portrait oil on canvas painting of young elegant dressed lady with a colorful flower hat, painted by Jean-Pierre Cassigneul in a hand carved original gilded Montparnasse wooden frame, in good condition. The lady is wearing a sunglass, standing in a circus, on a balcony, surrounded by the construction of the arena. Signed Cassigneul on the lower left and countersigned on the back. Wear consistent with age and use. Dated on the back side 1969, Paris, France.

Jean-Pierre Cassigneul is French artist, painter born in 1935, in Paris, France. He is most known for his recognizable compositions of stylish, elegant woman in floral hats. He had his first solo showing at the age of 17 at the Galerie Lucy Krohg, in Paris. Cassigneul studied at the The Beaux-Arts de Paris and was later trained by the French painter Roger Chapelain-Midy. During his life, he has exhibited throughout Europe, Japan and the United States. At the present, Cassigneul lives and works in Paris.
