20th Century Swiss Pair of Cauldron or Marmite Garden Planters by Willy Guhl

A pair of vintage Willy Guhl Cauldron-shaped planters elevated of short three legs and two lateral handles, in good condition. Each of the Swiss Eternit garden planters are created in a light weight cement, each having its heavy original weathered patina. For out-door, undercover use. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Switzerland.

Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher, and product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant cement designs produced by the Swiss company Eternit.
