20th Century Swiss Pair of Vintage Eternit Cement Cone Planters by Willy Guhl

A pair of vintage Mid-Century modern Swiss cone shaped planters made of hand crafted light weight cement designed by Willy Guhl for Eternit, in good condition. These sculptural garden vessel have been reinforced with fiber. Predrilled holes are provided for easy drainage. Natural aged weathered patina. For out-door, undercover use. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Switzerland.
Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher, and product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, and passed away in 2004. Mr. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Mr. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant cement designs.
