20th Century Swiss Pair of Vintage Saucer Cement Planters by Willy Guhl & Eternit

A pair of vintage Mid Century modern Swiss saucer planters made of hand crafted light weight cement designed by Willy Guhl and produced by Eternit, in good condition. Each of the round, shallow garden ornaments are fiber-reinforced, resting on a metal base. Naturally aged weathered surface and weather resistant. For out-door, undercover use. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Switzerland.

Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher and a product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant cement designs produced by the Swiss company Eternit.
