20th Century Swiss Vintage Biomorphic Garden Planter by Willy Guhl & Eternit

A large, vintage Mid-Century modern Swiss biomorphic garden planter made of hand crafted light weight cement designed by Willy Guhl and produced by Eternit, in good condition. This sculptural garden ornament has been fiber-reinforced. Original aged patina with plant residue. Drainage hole is provided. For out-door, undercover use. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Switzerland.
Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher and a product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant cement designs.
