Garden Urn from Provence with a Handpainted Flamed Glaze
pf-1259
The traditional flamed Anduze garden pot in terra cotta originates from the south of France and is fully glazed in warm earth tones and green. This French garden planter is adorned with swags and an emblem. It is handmade so sizes and finishes may vary. A drainage hole is provided. These garden ornaments are not frost proof.
The iconic Anduze urn traces its origins to the early 17th century, during the reign of King Henry IV. Inspired by the classical elegance of the Medici urn from Florence, a French potter in the town of Anduze blended Italian Renaissance design with Provençal craftsmanship, creating the first hand-thrown terracotta urn in Southern France. Over time, the Anduze pot became a hallmark of French garden style, admired for its graceful silhouette, durability, and decorative charm.
