Antique Greek Terracotta Jar

A small 19th Century Greek jar with three handles and white washed surface. The patina was applied to protect the terracotta clay from harsh weather conditions or to cool food and olive oil during the summer time. Each hand thrown classic Greek amphora is unique in dimensions and surface. Typically these outdoor ornaments are embellished with a ring decor along the bodice. Weathered patina, wear consistent with age and use.
