Antique White Wrought Iron Bistro Set, by Pier Luigi Colli
GF-1675
This garden ensemble, composed of a cast-iron table and a set of four matching chairs, reflects Designer Pier Luigi Colli’s signature balance of sculptural form and decorative refinement. The graceful ironwork structure, rhythmic curves, and enduring craftsmanship evoke the elegance of mid-century European garden design while remaining timeless in both interior conservatories and outdoor settings. Together, the set represents not only functional garden furniture but a collectible example of Italian decorative arts rooted in the Art Deco tradition.
Pier Luigi Colli was an Italian artist and designer, born in 1895 in Turin and passing away in 1968. He studied at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in France before returning to Italy to join his family’s furniture workshop. Colli’s work is closely associated with the refined Parisian Art Deco aesthetic, distinguished by elegant proportions and the sophisticated combination of materials such as iron, brass, glass, and wood. Throughout its history, the company collaborated with renowned architects and designers including Gio Ponti, Giovanni Gariboldi, and Carlo Mollino. The firm ultimately closed in 1980, making surviving pieces increasingly rare and highly sought after by collectors.
