An antique square wellhead in hand carved limestone.  The corners are adorned by columns. The detailed and elaborate animal carvings of the Venetian lion and eagles are set into separate arches. The in between spaces are adorned by loose scrolls and geometric patterns. These decorative motifs have been chiseled in the Byzantine style (Medieval period in Europe). The braided continuous pattern accentuates the bottom of the well. The beautifully hand forged ironwork in wrought iron is complete of with large decorative S - and C- scrolls, chain, pulley including the hook attachment. The garden ornament is set a four piece 5” high square platform. Antique weathered natural colored / grey patina. Wear consistent with age and use, Circa early 20th Century, Northern Italy.
