Circa 1980, a pair of conical shaped Tall garden planters by Swiss designer Willy Guhl. The pair is fabricated in lightweight cement and reinforced by a fiber. The spiral design adds to the sculptural design. Original patina. Drainage is provided, wear consistent with age and use. Switzerland 1970s.
Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher and a product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant planters design made in lightweight cement.
