A massive sculptural biomorphic garden planter by Willy Guhl in a lightweight cement. This sculptural vintage garden ornament has been fiber-reinforced. Willy Guhl was one of the first “ industrial “ designer in Switzerland and became well known for his elegant style of organic shaped outdoor planters. Aged patina with plant residue, wear consistent with age and use. Drainage hole is provided, circa 1960s Switzerland.
Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher and a product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant cement designs.
