The centered arch with initials “SH”  is flanked by Acanthus leaves and scrolls. The composition is executed in low relief with refined classical modeling and balanced proportions characteristic of the Neoclassical period. The fine grained marble allows for crisp carving and delicate detail, highlighting the sculptural quality of the piece.

Inspired by Greco - Roman antiquity, the relief reflects the 19th Century French Revival of classical forms, when architectural and decorative elements were frequently incorporated into interiors as permanent or semi architectural ornament.Elegant and timeless, the work functions equally as a focal wall element in a formal interior, entry hall, library or above a mantel.
