Large Brocca Majolica
dec-1629
This very decorative large pitcher is available in two different traditional designs, painted by hand.
The Italian Majolica dates back to the Renaissance period. In 1530, the artisans began to design their pottery onto low raised foot with many different decorations (garlands, palmettes, arabesques). In addition to the lustrous design, they used the beautiful rich colors blue, burnt orange, red, yellow and green. After a long hiatus of this traditional work of art , the production restarted again in the 19th century with the goal to restore the Renaissance tradition in Central and Southern Italy.
