Small Anduze Urn with Traditional Flamme Glazed Patina

pf-1477

The footed bulbous shaped Provencal Anduze garden planter urns are hand thrown in France. The Anduze Flamme have vibrant streaks of color in pale yellow, green and brown which define the natural color palette of the south of France. All terra cotta clay urns and planters are hand made in Provence, France. Drainage holes are provided, sizes and finishes may vary. These planters are not frost.

The iconic Anduze urn traces its origins to the early 17th century, during the reign of King Henry IV. Inspired by the classical elegance of the Medici urn from Florence, a French potter in the town of Anduze blended Italian Renaissance design with Provençal craftsmanship, creating the first hand-thrown terracotta urn in Southern France. Over time, the Anduze pot became a hallmark of French garden style, admired for its graceful silhouette, durability, and decorative charm.
